This portion of a tiny memoire was written in a dirty notebook in September of 2018, during a seventeen day journey through France, Portugal, and Iceland—exactly one year after my sister, Jenny, passed away. There were moments during those days, beyond what’s written here, which absolutely moved me, but that I simply couldn’t fit into this format. I hope what I was able to convey speaks to all the shades of truth I was lucky enough to experience during that time: admiration, fear, levity, restlessness, gratitude, sorrow, grief, beauty, insecurity, aloneness, autonomy, romance, and indulgence. Sometimes we just need big space—space is a cherished thing.
